Do you want to make $10,000+ per month selling cosmetics via e-commerce?
Beauty & hair products are an excellent way to create a strong retail business via e-commerce. E-commerce is the new gold rush with everyone wanting a slice of it. The question is what type of e-commerce business should you start?
1. Create a niche business
It might be tempting to create a general e-commerce store however it is better to niche instead. The beauty industry is a massive market with plenty of segmentation. Start within the beauty industry then find the products that work the best.
2. Choose between colour cosmetics or hair
The colour cosmetics e-commerce space is crowded right now. The rise of Instagram has made it even more expensive to attract new customers but it is still worth a shot. Beauty users tend to be agnostic about brands these days and they like to try different brands in the colour cosmetics market. Hair products are a steadier stream of income because you can predict that at the end of each month, you will receive a certain number of repeat customers.
3. Create a brand that people want
Look at popular new brands and see what they have in common. Craft a story that reaches your target market. We suggest choosing a specific niche instead of trying to target everyone. For example – create a colour cosmetics line for women of African origin or cash in the Korean beauty trend by creating a colour cosmetics line that targets women of Asian origin. The more targeted you are, the easier it will be to gain fans.
4. Make it easy for people to pay
If your customers want to use American Express, let them. If your customers want to purchase 3 products but don’t want to pay for delivery, allow this.
5. Bundle your delivery fees in order to encourage more sales
Customers don’t want to pay for delivery. The only think beauty and hair customers want to hear is that you are offering free delivery. Stop putting barriers to achieving sales.
6. Choose 2 influencers and offer them a branded line
To boost your sales towards the $10,000 mark per month, find 2 influencers that fit your brand and create a branded line within your brand of their name X your brand. If you do this, their followers will become your paying customers. It would be cheaper to pay them a one off fee instead of giving them a royalty as you would retain more revenues.
7. Create a daily sales target
You should have a daily sales target that can reach towards your monthly goal of $10,000 per month.
8. Create calls of actions to purchase products for your email list
Your email list might feature the people who are more likely to buy from you. Have slick calls of action that encourage sales without being annoying or irritating.
9. Write a daily blog
A blog will generate traffic for your beauty business, and this traffic should convert into sales if you are creating the content that people want to read. For the beauty and hair segment, people want to read tutorials and guides on how to improve how they look. If you are launching a hair brand, focus on tutorials on how to achieve gorgeous curls and what kind of tools people should use. If you are start a cosmetics business, focus on the top best makeup products that people should buy in order to look amazing.
10. Have a small budget that works wonders
Facebook advertising provides wonderful return on investment for cosmetics businesses that want to grow. Consider Facebook as an avenue if you want to generate $10K+ per month in e-commerce sales. Instagram advertising is not as successful as Facebook for cosmetics and hair brands.
If you want to grow your cosmetics brand into something that generates revenue month after month, build a base of loyal followers who are going to support your business and then convert the people who they know.
